Sequel to the release and announcement of the change in admission process for 2024 admission into UNICAL and the cancellation of the scheduled POST-UTME exams, the O’Level point grading system will be used.
By the use of this method, the 2024 UNICAL admission process will allocate 60% of a candidate’s screening score to their JAMB UTME score and the remaining 40% to their O’level results.
To calculate your admission screening score, institutions are expected to use the following point grading system:
Point Grading System for O’Level Results:
Only the five relevant subjects with the best grades from your O’level results will be considered. These will account for 40% of your total admission screening score as follows:
- A1 = 8% per subject
- B2 = 7% per subject
- B3 = 6% per subject
- C4 = 5% per subject
- C5 = 4% per subject
- C6 = 3% per subject
For example:
- If you have five A1 grades, you score 40% (8% x 5).
- If you have five B2 grades, you score 35% (7% x 5).
- If you have five B3 grades, you score 30% (6% x 5).
- If you have five C4 grades, you score 25% (5% x 5).
- If you have five C5 grades, you score 20% (4% x 5).
- If you have five C6 grades, you score 15% (3% x 5).
Point Grading System for JAMB Results:
Your JAMB score will contribute 60% of your total admission screening score, calculated as follows:
- 140-189 = 10%
- 190-199 = 20%
- 200-209 = 30%
- 210-219 = 40%
- 220-229 = 50%
- 230 and above = 60%
How to Calculate Your Admission Screening Score
To determine your total admission screening score, simply add the percentage from your O’level results to the percentage from your JAMB score. This combined percentage will represent your final admission screening score.
