The Management of the University of Calabar has formally invited an alumnus of the institution, Ofem Usani Joseph to defend his claims about the University in the Social Media.
A release by the publicity unit on the Alumni platform says Ofem Usani Joseph is to interact with a Special Investigative Committee on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room by 10am.
In a release, the Registrar of the University of Calabar, Mr Gabriel Egbe stated that the allegations are damaging, notably, the alumnus statement likening the “Examination Unit” in the Deputy Vice Chancellor’s Academic office to the NNPC Depot where transactions flourish unchecked.
The release said that the
statement of Ofem Joseph implies that the University’s certificate in his possession needs further forensic scrutiny.
The publication according to the Registrar would ordinarily have been dismissed as the handiwork of idle men, detractors and mischief-makers but coming from a 4th Degree alumnus, it calls for concern and raises many questions.
According to the release posted by Unical’s Alumni Relations Officer Dr DC Enamhe, in the event of his failure to honour this pivotal invitation to defend his claim, the release adds that the University Senate may have no option but to determine the authenticity or otherwise of all the certificates issued to him by the University of Calabar.
