UNICAL SUSPENDS STUDENT OVER USE OF VIOLENCE

The Management of the University of Calabar has announced the suspension of a year 3 Educational Biology student, Uwakmfon Nkereuwem Ben from studies for use of violence.

Conveying the news of the suspension in a release, the Registrar of the University of Calabar, Mr Gabriel Egbe said Uwakmfon violently inflicted a bite on the ear of her fellow Hall 8 resident, an act which Management describes as very strange in a University environment and not acceptable in the institution.

The Registrar said the act of the suspended student contravenes provisions of the students Handbook and is hereby suspended from studies with effect from July 25, 2024.

The release informed that Uwakmfon Ben will remain suspended till the Students Disciplinary Committee concludes investigation on the matter and makes recommendations to Management.

The Dean of the Faculty of Science Education, and the Head of Department of Educational Biology have been advised to ensure full compliance with the directive.

The Chief Security Officer has been directed to ensure that the student vacate the hostel premises immediately.
